Comment:: BizBOX 2S with Nvidia 1060 3G card install on late 2013 Macbook Pro i7 16G.

I had a few issues installing the system initially because I didn't use an external monitor with an HDMI input. At first, I tried using my 27" Apple display and got no result. However, once I switched to a monitor with the right inputs everything worked perfectly.

I then tested the performance before & after using Unigine Heaven ... massive difference from 7 FPS to 100 FPS and the CPU temp dropped from 85 degrees is 72 degrees.

In summary, the product works exactly as described!

Comment:: I do like it. I was looking at upgrading my graphics card for doing machine learning.

I am was debating between building a Hackintosh and/or upgrading my Laptop, in the end, I went with the 3rd option, get the Bison Box with the Graphic Card that I can use, and later upgrade the box if I get a MacBook Pro or rip it apart and use the GPU for a future Hackintosh build, in the end, I am pleased with my decision.

The Bison Box was easy to install, offers me the increased processing power that I need right now and has the flexibility and versatility for future upgrades.

Comment:: BizonBox3 paired with the 1080ti yields significant gaming improvements on the MacBook. While the Raedon Pro 560 dedicated gpu is suitable for most tasks, it's not ideal for anything demanding such as current gen games.
One con is probably the price - there's far cheaper eGPU's on the market and you can buy a standalone gpu yourself for cheaper. But what you're paying for is one time experience, plug and play.

Comment:: I'm using an iMac 2012 model with DaVinci Resolve. It displayed an alert that stated "GPU full" as soon as I started the program.

Tried to import one video and all I saw was static and glitches, even when rendered.

Now, it's displaying four streams of 2.5K footage simultaneously with the BizonBox. I'm truly impressed and thankful for this missing piece of the puzzle.

Comment:: So Bizon Box is very, very close to a five for me. I've been running it for several weeks on my MacBook Pro and it's been pretty flawless.

I can run WoW at ultra settings with almost no issue. Every now and then I get a slight tearing but it's maybe once every couple plays. The only reason I couldn't mark it a five is that it's a bit picky on startup - to get it to work every time I have to disconnect the monitor first, restart, then reconnect. Not critical by any means but a little bit annoying over time. Graphically though it's pretty much flawless.

Comment:: Really pleased with the performance boost I'm getting with the BisonBox 3 to my 2016 MacBook Pro 15" 2.9Ghz i7 with Radio Pro 460.

I'm using it with a Titan X card and I'm finally able to edit, color correct (etc, etc) full 4.6k 12-bit RAW, and 4.6k ProRes 444XQ, at full resolution and frame rate in Davinci Resolve and Premiere Pro.

I haven't run any benchmarks yet, but it's doing exactly what I hoped it would do - it's turned my MacBook Pro into a full on post-production machine for regular use on studio movies, commercials, network TV, etc. Very pleased!

The reason I've only given it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's not as user friendly as I would have liked. This is mostly because the instruction manual is a bit hokey. For example, the manual detailed how for a 6+8-pin card, you must use the 6+8-pin cable in the box. However, there is not a 8-pin cable in the box, just 2x 6-pin cables, plus 2x 2-cables. This meant I had to email Bizon and ask them what to do. However, their reply still wasn't specific enough, so I had to email them again - I just didn't want to risk damaging my $1400 graphics card. Another example is that the manual doesn't tell you what to do when you want to stop using the BizonBox 3 and take the laptop away with you - I took a guess, shut it down and unplugged it. It worked, but would have been nice to know this for sure. I also find it odd that there is a second port on the back of the box, but with specific warnings in the manual that this should not be used. So, why is the port there?

Aside from those few minor issues, I'm very pleased and would highly recommend it for professional filmmakers in need of more power.

Gaming the performance is way better but if you boot windows on imac you can squeash way more out of your egpu the only thing is it's way overprised

Comment:: I own a Macbook Pro 2016 without Touch Bar. BizonBox 3 lets me use the Nvidia GTX 970 that I need to render games and video work at the speeds that I need. The installation process is very easy on macOS, provided you use the software installation instructions included in the BizonBox 3 manual. However, getting the BizonBox 3 to work with Windows can be a huge pain at this point. Eventually I got it to work but had to disable some built-in input devices in the Windows Device Manager. Lack of support for HDMI and Displayport audio with macOS. Hopefully new driver software will make things easier in the future.
